I’ve been an academic librarian since 2002 and at San Diego State University (SDSU) since 2005. As a faculty member in SDSU Library’s Special Collections & University Archives, I have responsibilities for curation, instruction, reference and exhibits. Additionally, I serve as the subject liaison to Television, Film, Theatre, New Media and the Comic Arts, and work with on initiatives that support SDSU Arts Alive and the Digital Humanities. Some of my current passions include connecting students with issues of diversity and culture as reflected in sequential art. I hold an M.A. in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Sonoma State University and an M.A. in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I am a television junkie. While I am unlikely to to shush you in the library, you will be silenced if you try and chit-chat during my stories. My favorite genres are supernatural horror, science fiction, and apocalyptic drama. I'm most interested in themes that explore what it means to be "human," antiheroes, and maintaining strong values in a conflicted world. My favorite heroes usually have no super powers - they just do the right thing because it matters, even when their interpretation of “right” might be considered dark and twisted.
